What inspired you to start your business?
A desire to let people drink wine with no nasty chemicals in it. Most people are unaware how many fabulous wines there are which are grown in a way that make them healthier not just for them but for the environment eco-friendly. so many are not aware of the harm that pesticides and other chemicals used in wine production can cause. They are the cause of hangovers, other health problems and of course to mass contamination of the land.

What issues have you overcome since starting up your business?
It has been very hard to break into a new industry with so little money. I am still struggling to make ends meet. The primary problems have been getting the premises licensed to operate and to create a website that works efficiently and looks aesthetically pleasing. I had technical problems with my website which meant I made no sales over the festive period and had to stop advertising. I am now trying to re-launch the business with a new web hosting company and many more wines on the list.
What successes have you had recently?
I have had a lot of very good feedback but I am still struggling to reach people so I am still very much at the beginning.
What are your plans for the next five years?
To grow and expand the wine list to include almost every wine which I consider to be a good wine that is organic, biodynamic and some natural wines too, but the first 2 categories are my priority. The idea of the business is to be a one-stop shop for anyone seeking chemical free, healthy and delicious wines.
What did Startup Direct teach you about starting up a business and the different types of funding for startups?
Startup Direct made me construct my business plan which taught me a lot about my own business and the industry I was entering. It was a long but relatively simple process to complete the application and my mentor was incredibly helpful, supportive and encouraging throughout. I now feel I am in a far better position than I was, not just financially, but in terms of understanding my goals, limitations, business strategy, my potential and the direction of the business as a whole.
